DOYLESTOWN, PA – C&N, a leading financial services company across Pennsylvania and New York, is pleased to announce a recent donation in the amount of $16,000 to the Bucks County Historical Society under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC).
The Bucks County Historical Society, a private nonprofit organization, is a unique cultural and educational institution that operates the Mercer Museum & Library and Fonthill Museum. Located in Doylestown, Bucks County, PA, the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle are historic castles celebrating the legacy of Henry Chapman Mercer (1856-1930), American archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramicist and scholar. The Bucks County Historical Society’s mission is to educate and engage its many audiences in appreciating the past and to help find stories and meanings relevant to their lives – both today and in the future.
The Mercer Museum, one of Bucks County’s premier cultural attractions and a Smithsonian affiliate, features both local and national seasonal exhibits as well as a core museum collection of over 50,000 pre-Industrial tools.
Fonthill Castle was built between 1908-1912, and was the home to Henry Chapman Mercer. Mercer built Fonthill Castle as his home and as a showplace for his collection of tiles and prints.
This donation will be used for engaging summer camp experiences and field trips that offer students programs that feature inquiry-based learning, interactive content, and direct experience with original and/or reproductive artifacts. "The Bucks County Historical Society is grateful for this EITC donation from C&N. This support of our educational endeavors impacts students across the region and allows us to reach youth audiences in meaningful ways and inspire a love of history in the next generation.” said Kyle McKoy, President and CEO.
On hand to present the check and represent C&N were Blair T. Rush, President of C&N’s Southeast Region, Kelley Cwiklinski, SVP; Director of Commercial Lending and Rob Loughery, C&N Board Member. Mr. Rush commented, “Pennsylvania’s EITC program offers C&N a way to support organizations like the Bucks County Historical Society in their mission to share the notable history of the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle. We enthusiastically advocate for these institutions that are a treasure and distinctive to Bucks County”.
