WELLSBORO, PA – During C&N’s (Citizens & Northern Corporation, NASDAQ: CZNC) annual Charity Classic Golf Tournament, whose proceeds are going to support local Emergency Services organizations, it was announced that C&N donated $5,000 to the Coolidge Foundation to support The Mansfield University Public Safety Training Institute.
The Coolidge Foundation, whose mission to support public safety education and resources in our area, aligns with the curriculum at Mansfield University’s Public Safety Training Institute (MUPSTI). MUPSTI was established in 2018 as an enhancement to the current Police Academy, as a regional training center to provide initial and continuing professional education for criminal justice practitioners, first responders, public safety professionals, and the public. This program has integrated technology, such as virtual reality and simulations, allowing cadets the opportunity to learn through real life situations and hone their decision-making and de-escalation skills. Consistently higher than average test scores, combined with the many certifications and micro-credentials have led to a 95% job placement rate for MU Police Academy graduates. “We are proud to have such a prestigious program in our area,” said Tom Rudy, Region President at C&N, “C&N is proud to partner with local organizations like The Coolidge Foundation to help the team at MUPSTI continue offering cutting edge education to our first responders.” The Coolidge Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to supporting standardized advanced public safety education, comprehensive and innovative training and scholarship opportunities to those professionals and the citizens committed to keeping our communities safe.
The Coolidge Foundation was formed as a way to support ERTCA (Emergency Response Training Certification Association) which is led by Scott Henry, who retired from his director position at Mansfield University’s Police Academy and was one of the 3 founding members of MUPSTI. ERTCA was established in 2019. They are a Pennsylvania-based 501c6 non-profit that works with corporations, academic institutions and state and federal granting organizations to transform law enforcement education, training and innovation. ERTCA’s free workforce education programming is conducted both in-person and via distance learning in an effort to standardize educational outcomes that produce more reliable data that reduce the overall risks to public safety. Trainings will take place at the Erick J. Coolidge Center for Public Safety Training, Education & Innovation, formerly the Mansfield Police Barracks, which was gifted to the program through the Roy W. Piper Charitable Trust. ERTCA has partnered with 31 companies offering state-of-the-art equipment or technologies that will be available at this center for advanced trainings.
C&N is supporting local 34 local emergency service organizations through their Giving Back, Giving Together (GBGT) program, with a goal of raising $100,000 this year.
